A unique Location

Our location in Kato Gouves is quiet & residential.
In a walking distance of 100 meters from the sandy beach, there are restaurants, taverns, bars, pubs, shops, supermarkets, and water sport activities for you and your family.

Kalia Beach is located in the village of Kato Gouves, a well-developed tourist resort, built along the northern coastline of the island of Crete. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations, due to its wonderful sandy beaches, the exciting night-life options and its location in the center of the island, where all areas of interest can be easily reached.

In contrary to the neighboring crowded resorts Malia and Hersonissos, Gouves offers peaceful holidays, ideal for families with children, elderly people & couples. Here you will find mostly families that enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches, close to all necessary facilities. The beaches are well organized with umbrellas, sunbeds, lifeguards, diving centers, water sports, showers, changing rooms, etc. The sea has fine sand, shallow water and several small piers where you can enjoy your day at the beach.

In the afternoon you can watch the sun dive in the sea walking along its beautiful sea-side promenade that runs for about three kilometres along the coast. Along the way there are numerous beachfront tavernas, cafes, souvenir shops as well as some interesting sites, including a boat marina and a beautiful chapel which is built on a rock next to the sea inside a beautiful pine grove.

Just 15 minutes west of Gouves you will find yourself in the capital of Crete, Heraklion where you can visit the two most important archaeological sites of the island, the Minoan Palace of Knossos and the archaeological Museum of Crete. If you want to explore more of Crete, the road west takes you further to Rethymnon and Chania, the road east to Hersonissos, Malia, Agios Nikolaos & Elounda and the small roads that cross the island lead you through the mountains to the south coast.

Another highlight that you should not miss, only a few minutes away from the hotel through the beach road, is the Crete Aquarium, one of the Mediterranean’s largest complexes devoted to marine science, education and recreation. It provides face-to-face contact with the vibrant sea life – from hunter sharks to tiny seahorses. A fascinating and educational day out for children and adults alike.

Crete is a fascinating island! An island of natural beauty, history, culture, important sights, fantastic food with healthy & locally produced ingredients, hospitable people and deep rooted traditional values that will make your stay a memorable one! Explore it!
